Background
J. Andrew “Andy” Merriman grew up in the rural town of Bluffs, Illinois, and now lives with his wife, Jennifer, in Clarkston, Michigan. Andy began practicing law at a general practice law firm in Illinois that has been in existence for more than 100 years. Andy has experience with a wide variety of legal matters, including litigation for plaintiffs and defendants; real estate transactions; estate planning; probate and estate administration; business entity formation and contract review and drafting.
In addition to being highly active in the courtroom and in the management of various real estate and business transactions, Andy’s early practice instilled in him a strong ethical background and taught him how to efficiently and promptly respond to his clients. Andy’s experience allows him to draft, argue, and respond to both simple and complex legal documents. He has a proven ability to produce under tight deadlines and is well-equipped to manage a wide range of matters. Andy’s recent noteworthy accomplishments include preparing and arguing a successful appellate case in the Fourth District Appellate Court of Illinois; representing and counseling a Major League Baseball player on substantial investment in real estate; and acting as general counsel for Habitat for Humanity in Jacksonville, Illinois.
